Introduction
The information on this site is provided by CONCOS, as a resource for young people, along with their parents and teachers. We hope that it will entice and assist them in spending some time in the Gaeltacht, where they can experience the language of their heritage as a living language of the community.
A greater emphasis than ever is being placed on Ireland’s position within Europe. For the sake of our young people and indeed the enrichment of Europe as a whole, it is essential that we provide them not only with language learning skills but also self awareness, self respect and a thorough understanding of their heritage. The Irish language can provide them with such an opportunity, and there’s no better way to do this than through the Irish Summer Colleges.

Standards
CONCOS (Comhchoiste na gColáistí Samhraidh) is a federation of 47 Irish Summer Colleges both inside and outside the main Gaeltachtaí, as well as Residential Colleges in all four provinces.
These Colleges have been approved by the Department of Education and Science and the Department of Culture, Heritage,and Gaeltacht Affairs. The Colleges must also adhere to the Constitution and Code of Practice of CONCOS.
Everybody involved in CONCOS Irish Colleges is enthusiastic and experienced. College staff are committed to the promotion of the Irish Language, with due regard to evolving teaching methods and the development of young people.
When your child goes to an Irish College the Coláiste is truly in loco parentis until he/she returns. The daily timetable gives students the opportunity to participate in a range of new activities which are fully supervised.
While CONCOS is a non-statutory body, we make every effort to ensure our high standards are maintained throughout. While every effort is made to ensure that all information is accurate on this site, the individual College is the final arbiter for booking, information and registration of complaints should one arise.

Tá an t-eolas sa leabhrán seo á chur ar fáil ag CONCOS mar áis do dhaoine óga, dá dtuismitheoirí agus dá múinteoirí. Tá súil againn go meallfaidh sé iad agus go gcabhróidh sé leo seal a chaitheamh sa Ghaeltacht agus teanga a ndúchais agus a sinsir, an Ghaeilge, a bhlaiseadh mar bheotheanga phobail.
Agus béim níos láidre ná riamh á leagadh ar áit na hÉireann san Eoraip, tá sé fíor-thábhachtach go dtabharfaí dár ndaoine óga, ní hamháin scileanna foghlaim teanga, ach féiniúlacht, féinmheas agus léirthuiscint dá n-oidhreacht, a luach dóibh féin agus a luach don Eoraip uile. Is féidir an bunús ceart a thabhairt dóibh leis an nGaeilge. Níl bealach níos fearr ná sna Coláistí Samhraidh Gaeilge.

Cónaidhm is ea CONCOS (Comhchoiste na gColáistí Samhraidh) de 47 Coláiste Samhraidh, taobh istigh and taobh amuigh den Ghaeltacht, chomh maith le Coláistí Cónaithe sa cheithre Chúige.
Ta na Coláistí ar fad formheasta ag an Roinn Oideachais agus Eolaíochta agus an Roinn Cultúir, OIdhreachta agus Gaeltachta.
Ina theannta sin, tá dualgas ar na gColáistí uile cloí le Bunreacht agus Cód Iompar CONCOS.
Tá taithí den scoth ag foireann dhíograiseach Coláistí Samhraidh CONCOS. Tá siad ar fad tiomanta ó thaobh cur chun cinn na teanga agus súil ghéar acu i gcónaí ar mhodhanna múinte nua aimseartha agus forbairt dhaoine óga.
Bíonn teagmháil rialta idir CONCOS agus TUSLA chun sláinte, sábháilteacht agus feitheoireacht den scoth a chinntiú agus an dalta ag freastal ar Choláiste Samhraidh.
Bíonn an Coláiste go hiomlán in loco parentis go dtí go bhfilleann an dalta abhaile. Beidh deis ag na daltaí páirt a ghlacadh i réimse leathan gníomhaíochtaí nua faoi mhaoirseacht an fhoireann.
Cé gur chomhchoiste neamhrialtasach é CONCOS, déantar gach iarracht chun ard chaighdeán a chinntiú mar sin féin.
Cé go ndearnadh gach iarracht chun chinntiú go bhfuil an t-eolas uile ar an suíomh seo cuí, is iad na Coláistí féin na headránaithe deireanacha ó thaobh áirithint, eolas, agus más ann do ghearáin. Ní mór mar sin dul i dteagmháil leis an gColáiste a roghnaíonn tú go díreach.
